Tragedy Strikes as Migrant Boat Sinks Off Tunisia: Eight Lives Lost, 29 Rescued

A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Monday as Tunisia's coast guard recovered the bodies of eight African migrants following the sinking of their boat in the Mediterranean Sea. The vessel was attempting to make its way to Europe when tragedy struck off the coast near the city of Abwabed, in proximity to Sfax, a well-known embarkation point for migrants.

According to a security official, the rescue operation successfully recovered 29 individuals, who are now receiving assistance. However, the search continues for additional missing persons, raising fears that the death toll may rise. Houssem Eddine Jebabli, an official with the national guard, confirmed that operations are ongoing to locate any survivors in the waters where the vessel went down.
